Around the world there are quite a number of monuments and memorials dedicated to the crews and personnel of many airships and airship personalities from the 1900's. This series of pages is an attempt to document as many of these monuments, memorials, and museums as can be found.
As such, this "Monuments & Museums" page (which includes monuments, memorials, markers, gravesites, and museums) is divided into individual countries to avoid any one page becoming so long as to be unreasonable even for today's high-speed Internet connections found in many places around the world. Please choose from one of the links above. Your selection will open in a new page. The "Return" button on each page can be used to return to the previous page. The "Home" button always returns to the main "Then & Now" page.
Note: The set of pages dedicated to "Monuments and Museumss" was completed with mixed results. There are only a handful of museums worldwide actually dedicated to airships, and those are exclusively located in Germany - home of Graf Ferdinand von Zeppelin. It was my goal to include all museums which presented at least a single airship exhibit among all the winged aircraft exhibits, but, as it turns out, some museums with holdings of airship artifacts don't even have an airship exhibit presumably due to lack of general appeal! This made it very hard to decide if a particular museum should or should not be included. For example, the "premier" museum in the USA, the National Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, apparently has not exhibited an airship display since 1990, yet how could I leave out the Smithsonian?! Since exhibits are being changed all the time to draw crowds, I decided that some museums should be included here even though I was unable to confirm a current airship exhibit at the particular museum.
